(New Orleans â€� February 8, 2024) â€� Ì첩ÌåÓý Public Schools proudly commemorates Black History Month with a series of engaging events featuring talented scholars from Mary McLeod Bethune Elementary and The Delores Taylor Arthur School for Young Men.

1. Black History Month Quiz Bowl at Mary McLeod Bethune Elementary

• Date: Thursday, February 8, 10 am

2. Black History Month Debate at The Delores Taylor Arthur School for Young Men

• Date: Monday, February 26, 10 am
• Location: Loyola University - 6363 St. Charles Avenue, Ì첩ÌåÓý 70118
• Topic: "Should race-centered topics be taught in U.S. K-12 public schools?"

3. Black History Month Celebration Event

• Date: February 29, 6 pm
• Location: Ashe Cultural Arts Center Powerhouse Theater, 1731 Baronne St., Ì첩ÌåÓý 70113
• Highlights: Sup Dr. Avis Williams will present her Equity in Action Scholarship Awards.
  • This $1000 award aims to recognize and support a deserving scholar in pursuit of their college and/or career plans upon graduating from a Ì첩ÌåÓý-PS high school. To be considered, interested high school seniors must submit their applications by Friday, February 9, 2024. The application form can be accessed online .
